Circular barbells (CBBs) or horseshoes as they are commonly referred to, are a close relative of the ball closure ring, but instead of having a ball which clips in, the bar has a gap in it with balls screwed onto either end of the gap.
Circular barbells are commonly used in lip piercings, bellies, ears, nipples, genital piercings, septums and other nose piercings. Because the balls screw on, they are much easier to insert and remove yourself than ball closure rings.
